the most beautiful space ship
This must be amazing to see in real life!
Exelente
I remember watching this launch live on TV while I was at tech. school in Missoula.
Also got to watch the landing a few days later on TV.
This I believe was the only launch where they painted the liquid fuel tank white.
It looked like the Taj Mahal lifting off into the sky.
montanatom1950,
Actually, the fuel tank was painted white for the first 2 flights. Beginning with STS-3, the white paint was removed, resulting in a 600-lb weight savings.
Hey thanks for the clarification. It looked much better in white.
A new Area begins
Very cool!
Words fail me.
[http://www.flickr.com/photos/elessar] I agree!
To this day I remember how amazed I was by the way Columbia lept off the pad. I was used to seeing the Saturn V’s lumber off it.
